Bent Farm, Matlock, Derbyshire

Bent Farm is an existing farmhouse rebuild. We were instructed by our client to undertake a full structural package for the design of a replacement farmhouse.

Planning permission had previously been granted for this. In addition to the detached double-story stone farmhouse and swimming pool annexe, the main house was to benefit from a full habitable basement.

The existing farmhouse was in a neglected condition and needed to be demolished to make way for the new build farmhouse.

In order to undertake the structural works, we created an Architectural model that was used as a foundation for the structural model. This allowed us to fully coordinate the Architectural and Structural models by interlinking them which provided full clash detection. We co-ordinated the entire project through Autodesk Revit

Following the 3D modelling stage, we undertook a full detail design of the proposed building that accommodated the following and catered for Building control approval and construction purposes.

  • Full basement and substructure GA, details, and reinforced concrete detailing including bar bending schedules.
  • Full steelwork superstructure GA, details, and full fabrication drawings
  • Ground and first-floor composite slab GA and details
  • Full masonry GA and details

During construction, all elements of the build went smoothly with little wasted time or materials. The coordination and full detail package for this build were key in this outcome. The client has moved into the property & is enjoying all aspects of the new build.
